Updating ECHealth

Updating ECHealth

This article assumes that an older version of ECHealth is currently installed on the PC. If this is a first time install please refer to the following article Installing ECHealth.

Requirements

Instructions
  1. It is recommended that you back up the contents of the folder C:\Lionstar before continuing. To do so, simply copy the files 'ecal.dat' and 'ecal.lic' to another folder or a separate drive. Regular backups of 'ecal.dat' to a separate drive is recommended to minimise the potential loss of client data.
    • In some cases, Windows may be set to hide the file extensions of known files, resulting in 'ecal.dat' and/or 'ecal.lic' appearing as 'ecal'.

  2. The current version of ECHealth must first be uninstalled before the new version can be installed.
    • Go to Control PanelPrograms and Features.
    • Select ECHealth from the list of installed applications and click Uninstall.
    • Select Yes in the dialog box asking if you want to uninstall ECHealth and follow the prompts to uninstall.

  3. Extract the ECHealth installer files from the downloaded zip file and run setup.exe. Follow the prompts to complete installation of the new version of ECHealth.

  4. The installation will not overwrite the pre-existing database or licence file, allowing you to immediately start using the new version of ECHealth upon completion of the install. If, for any reason, you believe there is a problem with the database or licence, simply copy the files backed up in step 1 to C:\Lionstar.

  5. The first time ECHealth is run it will check to ensure the database is compatible with the new version. If it is determined that the database needs to be updated, ECHealth will inform you with a dialogue box. To update the database, follow the steps below.
    • If not done previously, backup the 'ecal.dat' database file from within C:\Lionstar.
    • Open the start menu and go to All Programs  ECHealth  Tools and click on ECHEALTH DB Update to run the database updater application.
    • Click Choose File and select the 'ecal.dat' file from within C:\Lionstar.
    • Click Update Database and wait for the conversion to complete.
